Lagerstroemia, also known as noon, is cultivated for its very pretty flowers. Inflorescences grow up to 20 cm in length. It is considered to be the longest flowering plant, it blooms up to 120 days a year (about 4 months) from spring to autumn. It is often grown in Mediterranean countries as well as in a temperate climate. A beautifully and long-flowering shrub or a small tree, up to 2-4 m, with a peeling bark similar to that of a plane tree. Lagerstroemia comes from Asia, where it grows up to 10 m in height.
