Zucchini Atena Polka (Cucurbita pepo) - an early variety, distinguished by its extraordinary fertility, which is due to the partial parthenocarpy. An annual plant with a bushy habit, it forms dense clumps of large, green leaves. It produces a large number of oblong, club-shaped fruits. This variety is valued for the unusual color of the fruit, which has a vivid yellow-orange color. Young zucchini fruits have a much higher nutritional value and are much tastier than the older ones. It is best to collect the ones that are about 20 cm long, then they are the tastiest and contain large amounts of vitamins, macro- and microelements. They are perfect for preparing colorful dishes and for preserving.

Zucchini is a thermophilic plant, it grows best and bears fruit abundantly when grown in warm and sunny places. It prefers soils rich in nutrients and humus, the pH of which is between 6.5 and 7.0. It is important that the substrate is sufficiently moist but permeable. Zucchini can be grown from sowing directly into the field or from previously prepared seedlings. Zucchini seeds sown in pots or boxes in April or directly in the field in May. Preparation of seedlings in a heated room will allow for earlier harvesting. The seedlings should be planted in the second half of May, when the risk of frost has passed. We keep a spacing of 1 x 1 m. Young fruits appear in great numbers, harvesting is possible from June until frost.
